MOSCOW, March 6 – Rossiya Segodnya press service – The Andrei Stenin International Press Photo Contest, organized by Rossiya Segodnya under the aegis of Russia’s Commission for UNESCO, will stop receiving entries on March 22. Entries are currently being accepted at stenincontest.com. Some 1,000 entries by participants from over 40 countries, including Russia, have already entered the competition. The prize fund will amount to over $15,000 (according to the Bank of Russia exchange rate on March 06), and the Grand Prix winner will receive around $8,000 (according to the Bank of Russia exchange rate on March 06).
According to Alexander Shtol, Director of Rossiya Segodnya’s Integrated Directorate of Photography, “The Stenin contest allows photographers to enter the world of big journalism and present their works to the professional community. We proudly follow the fates of our winners: Yelena Anosova (2015 Grand Prix) won this year the World Press Photo ‘photo Oscar,’ and the 2016 Grand Prix winner, Italian photographer Danilo Di Meo, has already held several personal exhibitions.”
The 2017 contest will include four categories in which young photographers can compete: Top News, Sports, My Planet and Portrait: A Hero of Our Time. Following the voting, the jury will award prizes to the top three in each category and present a Grand Prix award.
