Winning Entries of the Stenin Photo Contest Arrive in Istanbul

MOSCOW, September 26. The first foreign venue of the 2017 Andrei Stenin International Press Photo Contest winners’ exhibition will be FotoIstanbul 2017, one of the major international photography festivals in Turkey. The festival will run between September 30 and October 22 in Istanbul and will include dozens of exhibits and slide shows from around the world. Guests will also be able to participate in educational seminars, workshops, and lectures on the new trends and techniques in contemporary photography.
The Andrei Stenin Contest will display several photo series in the exhibition space, including the heart-wrenching story of people who lost their future, Migrants in Belgrade by Spanish journalist Alejandro Martinez Velez (Grand Prix); Alternative Reality, a photo story by Russia’s Pavel Volkov about a hermit who chose to live away from big cities; and Russian photojournalist Alexei Filippov’s At Your Fingertips, about winning and overcoming hardship, documents one of the most beautiful sports: artistic gymnastics. In 2017, around 5,000 entries from 76 countries competed for the contest’s top honors.

The exhibition is part of an international tour launched in early September in Moscow. The goal of the Andrei Stenin International Press Photo Contest is to support young photographers and raise public awareness of modern photography and its purpose. The competition gives an opportunity to talented, sensitive and open-minded photographers to draw public attention to the events around us. The contest is organized by Rossiya Segodnya under the auspices of the Russian Federation Commission for UNESCO.

The contest’s 2017 international partners include: Al Mayadeen TV,  Shanghai United Media Group (SUMG) and ICRC.
