Grand Prix winner at the 2017 Andrei Stenin International Press Photo Contest Alejandro Martinez Velez: Having the opportunity to show my entry Migrants in Belgrade at the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Madrid, where I live, is a great joy for me. And at the same time, it is an opportunity to continue talking about migration issues in Europe. I would like visitors of the photo exhibition to be able to feel through the images what an incredible example of strength and courage these people give us, those who are forced to cross the political and social borders every day.”
Alejandro Martinez Velez also noted that it is a great honor to be exhibited together with other winners of the2017 Stenin contest, including Victor Blanco, Phandulwazi Jikelo, Anna Pantelia and others.
“The award received at this competition is very important, in particular, because it is held among young photographers and is dedicated to the memory of our colleague who died tragically in the line of work,” he stressed.
