MEXICO CITY, November 21, Rossiya Segodnya Press Service. – The winning entries in the Andrei Stenin International Press Photo Contest organized by Rossiya Segodnya under the auspices of Russia’s Commission for UNESCO will be exhibited in Mexico for the first time. The exhibition of dozens of photos by some of the world’s best young photographers will open on November 28 at one of the largest photo galleries in Mexico City, Centro de la Imagen.
The exhibition in Mexico City will present many exceptional images. The unbiased photo essay, Refugees in Belgrade by 2017 Grand Prix winner Alejandro Martinez Velez from Spain adjoins the piercing portrait of a small refugee in Idomeni by Greek photographer Anna Pantelia. The story of the resident of a tiny village in the west of Siberia by Russian photographer Alexei Malgavko contrasts with the ethnicity of Widow Holi by Indian Shashi Shekhar Kashyap. And the surreal series Istanbul Dummies by Stepan Rudik from Poland builds visual parallels to the photo story of a contemporary hermit, Alternative Reality, by Russian journalist Pavel Volkov.
The exhibition of Andrei Stenin contest winners is part of the international exhibition tour of the noted international competition for young photographers. The information agency Notimex is cosponsoring the Mexican stage of the tour. The project aims to support young photographers and draw public attention to the challenges of modern photojournalism. This is a platform for young photographers — talented, sensitive and open to new approaches, as they draw viewers’ attention to the people and events around them.
