PANAMA, June 12, Rossiya Segodnya press service. On Russia Day, June 12, the Russian Embassy in Panama will launch on its official website (https://panama.mid.ru) an online exhibition of the Andrei Stenin International Press Photo Contest’s best entries from different years. The exhibition will also be available on the embassy’s social media accounts: Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/EmbRusPan/), Twitter (https://twitter.com/EmbRusPan) and Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/embruspan/).
The online exhibition will serve as a kind of visual recap of the contest over the past three years, demonstrating both the undoubtedly improved skills of its participants and the expanding list of topics that interest young photojournalists. Among the most pressing topics are forced migration and the preservation of ethnic identity, environmental problems and social volunteering.
Commenting on the launch of the online exhibition, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Panama Yevgeny BOIKOV said:
“I would like to commend the photos by young photojournalists that were kindly provided to us by Rossiya Segodnya for the online exhibition. The photos taken for the international press photo contest in memory of Andrei Stenin, who died heroically while on assignment in southeastern Ukraine in August 2014, clearly demonstrate what issues today’s young generation cares about, and the international nature of the contest should certainly again remind us of the need to formulate foreign policy approaches that would contribute to the de-escalation of international tension and the strengthening of the legal and democratic principles of interstate communication. Russia is open for a constructive dialogue with any countries to address contemporary global challenges based on equality, mutual respect and consensus.”
