ENVIGADO, February 23 – RIA Novosti. Envigado (Colombia) has become the new international venue for the Andrei Stenin Press Photo Contest winners’ exhibition followed Pretoria (South Africa), Sharjah (UAE) and New Delhi (India). It is the first of the three Colombian cities that will host the exhibition at the beginning of the year.

A display of forty photographs – series as well as single images – opened on Wednesday at the Miguel Uribe Restrepo Culture Center with the support of the Envigado Photo Club, which also organized the exhibition of the Stenin Contest winning works in 2022.
The Envigado exhibition features photos by photojournalists from Russia, China, Iran, Italy, Egypt, Bangladesh, Guatemala, the Philippines, and other countries. The exhibition will be open until March 4, and entrance is free. Later, the contest’s exhibition will visit two more Colombian cities, Santa Marta and Cali.

In his opening remarks Fenix Director Luis Ochoa said:

“It is a great honor for the Fenix Corporation to invite everyone to the exhibition of the winners of the international photo contest named after the Russian photographer Andrei Stenin, where the best works of this year’s young photographers are presented. This year the exhibition marks a very special date: Photographer’s Day in Colombia, which is celebrated on February 20, and for me as an Envigado photographer and cultural manager, it is extremely important to be part of this exhibition, which is opening in Colombia for the third time and the second time in Envigado.”

He also thanked the contest’s Moscow team for their trust in organizing the exhibition in Colombia, and the Envigado administration, which was represented on the venue by the secretary for culture, Ruth Veronica, as well as her colleagues for inviting them to hold the exhibition at the Casa de Cultura gallery.

“I would really like to see the works of the winners from Colombia and, of course, from Envigado in a few years, when we open the exhibition here again,” Ochoa concluded.

In his welcoming address to the guests of the ceremony read by the exhibition organizers, Andrei Stenin Press Photo Contest Executive Director Alexander Shtol noted that “photojournalists from Colombia are among the most active participants in the competition. There have been works from Colombia almost since year one, and the contest team hopes that Colombian photojournalists’ interest in it will only grow, including thanks to the exhibition in Envigado.”

The contest’s traditional roadshow started in Moscow in October 2022. Exhibitions are also planned in other cities, including in the Middle East and Southeast Asia with the support of the international partners of the competition.

As per tradition, application for the 2023 competition opened on December 22, Andrei Stenin’s birthday. Applications can be submitted in Russian (https://stenincontest.ru/), English (https://stenincontest.com/) and Chinese (https://cn.stenincontest.com/) on the contest website until February 28.
