Stenin contest hosts roundtable on present-day photojournalism

Rossiya Segodnya Media Group’s International Multimedia Press Center hosted a roundtable discussion titled Photojournalism in Present-Day Reality. It offered an opportunity for photojournalists, frontline correspondents, experts and members of the photography community from Russia and beyond to discuss the latest developments and state of photojournalism in today’s world.

Held under the aegis of the Andrei Stenin International Press Photo Contest, the roundtable discussion included the following speakers:

Participants discussed the role of present-day photojournalism in the media industry in Russia and around the world, and shared their opinions on artificial intelligence and its impact on photojournalism. They went on to talk about their personal experiences in extreme photojournalism and ways to ensure that their images do not compromise the information security of the people appearing in their images. The speakers agreed that photojournalists should take part in major photo contests on a regular basis, including the Andrei Stenin International Press Photo Contest.

In fact, the Andrei Stenin International Press Photo Contest launched its 11th edition on December 22, 2024, which has become a traditional way for it to mark the birthday of Andrei Stenin, a Rossiya Segodnya photo correspondent who tragically died while on an editorial assignment. Entries for the contest will be accepted until February 28, 2025, on the contest’s websites stenincontest.ru and stenincontest.com.
