11th Stenin Contest submission period ends

On February 28, 2025, the Andrei Stenin International Press Photo Contest closed the submission period for this year’s contest entries.
All of the submitted photographs will be reviewed by the Expert Commission, which will draw up a list of selected works to be sent to the competition’s jury by mid-April. After that, the competent international jury will shortlist candidates for the prizes.
This year’s contest features five categories: Top News (single photo and photo series), Sports (single photo), My Planet (single photo and photo series), Portrait. A Hero of Our Time (single photo and photo series) and Top View (single photo). The jury will award prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in each category. Some works can also receive Special Mention from the jury. One of the photographs on the shortlist will receive the Grand Prix.
The international jury of the 11th Andrei Stenin contest includes acknowledged masters of photojournalism, winners of the world’s highest and thematic awards in the industry.
The international part of the jury includes photographers from Serbia, Türkiye and China:
David Pujadó (Serbia)
An independent curator, in 2015, he founded Belgrade Photo Month, an annual exhibition dedicated to the exhibition and promotion of photography in Belgrade, biennial since 2022. In 2021, he began curating and coordinating Catalan Film Days in Belgrade. He runs the Bartcelona koncept photographic platform, which has featured more than 80 exhibitions. As an independent curator, he has worked with such photographers as Natan Dvir, Julie Glassberg, Karoliina Paatos, Julieta Averbuj, and many others.
Wang Jianhua (China)
Senior Reporter, Deputy Director of Photo News at Xinhua News Agency. In 2000-2002, he worked as a resident photographer for Xinhua’s Middle East regional bureau. In recent years, he has covered major events such as the APEC leaders’ meeting in Beijing, the Beijing and London Olympics, the Shanghai World Expo, the 2008 Sichuan earthquake, the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami, and the conflict in the Middle East.
Arif Hüdaverdi Yaman (Türkiye)
Photojournalist at the Anadolu Agency in Istanbul. In the past 15 years, he has covered a wide range of topics, including sports, politics, natural disasters, and hot spots. His photographs have been published in various national and international publications. Yaman has received several international awards, including the International Photography Awards (IPA), HIPA, and Siena Awards.

Vladimir Vyatkin
A special photojournalist for RIA Novosti, he joined the agency when it was still called the Novosti Press Agency (APN). Winner and finalist of numerous international photo contests. Six-time prize winner of World Press Photo and three-time member of the competition’s international jury. Since 1981, he has been teaching at the Department of Journalism of Lomonosov Moscow State University.
Anatoly Maltsev
Staff photographer for the European Pressphoto Agency (EPA) since 1997, Anatoly has worked in the newspapers Smena, Vecherny Leningrad, and Komsomolskaya Pravda, and collaborated with the Associated Press (AP). Founder of the Tsekh photo school and Interpress.ru agency. Member of the Russian Union of Journalists and International Federation of Journalists (IFJ). Winner of World Press Photo and other awards.
Valery Melnikov
Freelance documentary photographer. From November 2009 to April 2023, he was a special photojournalist for the Rossiya Segodnya media group. Winner of numerous international and Russian photo contests, including World Press Photo, World Report Award, Days Japan International Photo Journalism Award 2015, CHIPP 2015, Visual Storytelling Awards 2015, Professional Photographer of the Year 2014, China International Press Photo Contest 2013 and 2014, Sony WPA 2015, KOLGA TBILISI PHOTO 2015, and others.
