Andrei Stenin contest roadshow continues in capital of Nicaragua.
Managua has become the latest stop on the 2024 international tour of the Andrei Stenin International Press Photo Contest exhibition in Latin America. This marks the second time Nicaragua has hosted the works of the competition’s winners. The exhibition’s opening took place with support of the Nicaraguan National Cinematheque and the Nicaraguan Communication and Citizenship Council.
Visitors to the Cinematheque have the opportunity to view 30 compelling works by photojournalists from India, Russia, Italy, Syria, the United Kingdom, Bangladesh, and other countries.
The opening ceremony gathered distinguished guests, including, Coordinator of the Communication and Citizenship Council of Nicaragua Daniel Edmundo Ortega Murillo, Director of the National Cinematheque of Nicaragua Idania Castillo, Russian Ambassador to Nicaragua Mikhail Ledenev, Vice Minister of Youth Affairs Oscar Perez, President of the National Student Union Douglas Lara, and Coordinator of the Network of Young Communication Professionals Edwin Madrigal.

Director of the National Cinematheque Idania Castillo noted:

“It is a great honor and pleasure for our venue to promote the art and culture of both Nicaragua and Russia.” She also expressed confidence that the exhibition would resonate with the public, calling it one of the most impressive ever hosted by the Cinematheque."

Daniel Edmundo Ortega Murillo, who led the opening ceremony, conveyed warm greetings from President Daniel Ortega and Vice President Rosario Murillo. He stated:

“I am very pleased that, for the second year in a row, we are opening the exhibition of the Andrei Stenin International Press Photo Contest, dedicated to the memory of this remarkable photographer, together with our friends from the Sputnik agency and with the continued support of the National Cinematheque.”

Russian Ambassador in Nicaragua Mikhail Ledenev thanked the Government of Nicaragua for its continued support and work for the benefit of the country and friendship with Moscow.
Next week, the exhibition will be on display at the Casimiro Sotelo Montenegro National University in Managua.
